## The five steps

1. **Keyword grouping** — categorize keywords by intent and theme; build
keyword clusters that support topical authority.
2. **Keyword research** — find relevant keywords using Google Suggest
(autocomplete), Google Trends, and competitor analysis. Example: searching
"MS Scholarships in USA" surfaces its keyword variations.
3. **Content planning** — map keywords to specific pages or posts (keyword
mapping), planned around search intent (informational, commercial,
   transactional).
4. **Gap analysis** — identify content competitors rank for that you don't
have yet, to uncover untapped opportunities.
5. **Seed keywords** — start broad, then narrow to specific, long-tail
versions. Example: "Spotify APK" leads to "Download Spotify Premium
   APK".[^iskills-course-notes]

## Structuring e-commerce and SaaS sites

A site in this category should cover three layers:

- **Product pages** (with model/variation detail)
- **Category pages**
- **Blog section** — addressing user issues, product comparisons, how-tos

Keep content fresh: Google values updated pages, so revisit and refresh older
posts rather than only publishing new ones.

**Fellow keywords** are related terms that are not direct keyword matches but
are contextually relevant — e.g. alongside "Spotify", terms like "Spotify
APK" or "Spotify for Android" are still worth covering.

## Keyword application by site type

**Service-based site (e.g. AC repair):**

1. "AC Services in [Area]"
2. "[Brand] AC Services in [City/Area]"
3. Blog topics: common AC issues, fixes and troubleshooting, brand/model
   comparisons.

**Local services (e.g. movers):**

- "[City] Movers"
- "Best Movers in [Area]"
- Blog: "How to choose the best moving company in [City]"

## eCommerce keyword strategy

1. Target product variations/models.
2. Cover product categories.
3. Blog content: issues/fixes, comparisons.

**Method: focus on volume over difficulty.** Prioritize main keywords that are
highly relevant and high in search volume, treating keyword difficulty as
secondary for this pass — e.g. "AC Repair in Dubai" must be highly relevant to
the location and service above all.

**Method: analyze competitor pages.** See which keywords they use, understand
their content gaps, and collect useful keywords from what you find.

**Method: Google News.** Use it to source fresh content ideas for
trending/news-based niches.

**Method: Google Alerts.** Set an alert on a chosen keyword to stay ahead of
new coverage — e.g. keyword "Spotify app", frequency as-it-happens, any
region, English, delivered by email.

## Final strategy summary

- Combine keywords with similar intent under one group.
- Map keywords to content types (pages, blogs, categories).
- Weight search volume and relevancy over KD.
- Use Ahrefs, Google Instant, and Google Alerts together.
- Export competitor data and use ChatGPT to help with clustering.
